Zuna is a catalyst for operational freedom

Our Story

We’ve been on both sides of the fence. We know what it’s like to run a business because we have. And, we know what it’s like to deal with operational services because we’ve worked in the industry for years. That unique perspective made clear just how broken the traditional model is. We saw an opportunity to make operational services an integrated and more strategic part of the business, instead of siloed, stand alone services.

So, we created Zuna to be a catalyst of operational change for our clients. We empower the freedom of flexibility in their everyday operations. So businesses can get back to business.

The winds of change are coming faster and harder than at any other time in history. Massive shifts are fundamentally breaking traditional business models and creating an unpredictable environment. In its wake are thriving businesses who have built agility and flexibility at their very core. Our mission is to share our knowledge and expertise. And help instill a more flexible infrastructure, so businesses can thrive no matter what comes their way.

Greg Koleno
CEO

Some people inspire greatness in others.
- With empathy and encouragement…
- With advice and understanding…

Some people just have a way of bringing out the very best in those around them.  Greg is one of those people.

Greg is known for his innovative, forward-thinking, and fun-loving good nature. His willingness to consider perspectives different from his own contributes to a culture of authentic collaboration among our team.

He is a nonconformist and never been one to settle for the status quo.  Adapting and changing has been the name of the game for his potpourri of a career including painting houses, working on a vineyard in southern France, founding a software company, starting a mergers and acquisition advisory firm, and leading as a senior-level executive for various financial services companies.

No matter what role he has filled, people know him as a relentless competitor who does whatever he can to make those around him better.  Both personally and professionally, Greg pursues a path that allows him to do more of the things he loves.

Greg loves spending time with his wife and three girls.  And when he is not on the sideline watching his girls play soccer, basketball or volleyball you’ll find him in the outdoors hiking, skiing, surfing, or finding a new adventure.

Top three values: Integrity. Authenticity. Commitment.

Aalok Shah, CFP® | Chief Financial Officer and Director of Research

Aalok Shah, CFP®
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER & DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

Aalok is a real rebel.

Early on, everyone expected he would become a doctor, just like his parents. But a funny thing happened in college. He fell completely, deliriously, hopelessly in love… with economics.

“…after taking some courses in economics, I quickly realized… I didn’t need to memorize anything or worry about organic chemistry… I could just think deeper, and the answers came naturally.”

With his parent’s eventual support, Aalok earned his degree in Economics from London School of Economics. Parting from a family legacy of a career in the medical field turned out to be the right decision for Aalok.

Since then, he has built his career doing what he loves alongside colleagues who value and respect his commitment to making a real contribution. He is a master at understanding exactly what his clients need and delivering beyond their expectations.

Away from the office, you’ll most likely find him chasing birdies on the fairway or at the beach with his feet in the sand – and always in the good company of family and friends.

Aalok’s top three values: Relationships. Loyalty. Fairness.

Tom Greider | DIRECTOR OF EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

Tom Greider
DIRECTOR OF EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

Tom’s core passions are to teach and coach. For over 40 years, Tom has been a professional coach, first in the sport of tennis, and the during the last 15 years, full time in the financial advisory business. During his time working on 401(k) plans, Tom worked with the owners, trustees, HR, Record Keepers, TPA’s and finally, a company’s greatest asset - their employees. His goals? To help everyone involved in a 401(k) to have a positive experience working with ZUNA. Tom spends the bulk of his time at ZUNA asking questions, then collaborating, strategizing and planning with his relationships.

Tom’s tennis coaching and teaching career of four decades have served (pun intended) him well as he educates, excites, and encourages employees at all life stages and economic status to make smarter choices today which should lead to better opportunities in the future.

“I’m blessed to have spent my entire career teaching and coaching not only tennis players, but also helping 401(k) participants, prepare for the next great chapter in their journey. Often while coaching, I will experience a goose bump moment. This is my mind and body indicating I’m alive, engaged and moved by what just happened. It happens on the court and when I am meeting and conversing with employees about their savings goals in their 401(k). The goose bump moment is when I hear someone say ‘Now I get it….I have never heard this explained in such a way, now I’m excited to learn more!’ ”

When Tom is not helping 401(k) participants or working with their plans, “Pa” (as his adorable grandkids, Emilia, Ellie, and William refer to him as!) also relishes opportunities to gather for family occasions with his wife Cindy, and kids Tiffany, Meghan and Jillian, preferably on the beach in Lincoln City. Tom continues to help tennis players at the high school level, where he is a volunteer assistant, to the recently crowned state champions Marist Spartans.

Tom’s top three values: Positivity. Empathy. Patience. (Tom calls it PEP!).
